About
Hogwarts Interactive is a Harry Potter based role-play forum where people are free to register and become members. Owner of the site, Sarah found the site becoming progressively harder to maintain with a constantly growing user base. RewindPHP developed a suite of applications in order to reduce the amount of manual work required and to automate common tasks and processes which were becoming repetitive and tedious. Applications which were developed in order to aid the running of the site include a ‘House Points’ application (which automatically awarded and kept a record of points awarded to members), a ‘House Sorting’ application which randomly sorts new members into houses or teams and a ‘Class Registry’ application which allowed members to apply for classes and manage classes they belong to. Staff also had a teaching panel where they were able to monitor the students in their class. RewindPHP were able to complete the above within a strict timeframe without compensating on any other aspects of the development such as security and speed. The applications were all integrated into the existing bulletin board software meaning a seamless and easy transition allowing the staff to become easily acquainted with the new system. It was a great success and the features were well documented and easily learnt by the new staff with very little effort.
